FBML custom Facebook tabs no longer supported
In an announcement made public on the Facebook Developers site, Facebook says they will no longer support Facebook Markup Language (FBML) for custom tabs. [source]
Many small business owners, including our clients, are using Facebook to promote their products and services by adding custom tabs to their pages. These custom tabs, or applications, help their pages stand out amongst the competition. At the same time, it turns the page into a useful sales tool — one that can generate leads, increase awareness and sell products.
Some of the outdated FBML tabs are no longer functioning properly since the Timeline update. In a short time, they will disappear for good. If you are a page manager with outdated apps, you will have to find alternative resources. Below are a few tools to help get you started.
ShortStack — build custom pages and forms from scratch or choose from one of their many built-in templates.
Involver — this platform offers several free apps that pull content from your social networks to your Facebook page, including: YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter, RSS feed and many more.
Wildfire — easy-to-use tool to grow, engage, and monetize your audience on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
To see a live example, visit the Fused Interactive page. We support apps from the providers listed above, and would like to help you get your business on the right track with social media. If you’re looking to build a custom Facebook application, contact us for details and pricing.
